How to Speed up Windows XP

Instructions:


Disable Unneeded Programs That Slow Down Boot Time
Step 1:
Go to the “Start” tab.

Step 2:
Highlight and click on “Run.”

Step 3:
Type “MSCONFIG” into the text box. This will access “System Configuration Utility.”

Step 4:
Select the “Services” tab and choose to “Hide All Microsoft Services.”

Step 5:
Uncheck any programs you neither recognize nor find necessary.

Step 6:
Choose the “Startup” tab and repeat Step 5.

Step 7:
Click “Apply” and reboot your computer when done.


Alter Your Folder Settings to Speed Up Windows XP Performance
Step 1:
Go to “My Computer.”

Step 2:
Select “Tools” and “Folder Options.”

Step 3:
Open the “View” tab.

Step 4:
Uncheck and Check these options: Uncheck “Automatically Search for Network Folders and Printers." Check “Launch Folder Windows in a Separate Process” and “Do Not Cache" Thumbnails.


Speed Up Windows XP by Disabling Sounds
Step 1:
Go to the “Start” tab.

Step 2:
Choose “Settings.”

Step 3:
Open the “Control Panel.”

Step 4:
Select “Sounds and Audio Devices.”

Step 5:
Open the “Sounds” tab.

Step 6:
Opt for “No Sounds” under the Sound Scheme.
